Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday everyone!!!

After having an incredibly warm fall, the inevitable winter is approaching.  The ground has been covered with frost most mornings and it's just been cold!  I guess it's time to find all my sweaters, vests, and boots!  And, can you believe Thanksgiving is just two weeks away!?  That sure snuck up fast....

Anyhoo, we've been busy here at the Homestead this week - here are five things we've been up to:

[one]

We are huge composters (and recyclers!) here.  In fact, we've recently switched out our 13 gallon kitchen trash to a 6 gallon because we throw so little away each week.  I love the huge compost bin that Jason built for us, but it's quite a hike from our house.  I was not looking forward to trekking out to it in the snow.

Using extra windows we already had, Jason built a winter compost bin right outside our back garage door.  We'll use this throughout the winter and then, once spring gets here, we'll just transfer all of it to our big compost bin.  I love having such a handy hubby!

We've been doing a couple things to prep the garden for next spring.  I've pulled all of the nasty carpet that was used for paths out and we've been letting the chickens inside the garden.  It's amazing what those seven birds can do to a small plot of land in just an hour!

We have new doors/trim/doorjambs in our lower level!!  Yay - progress!!  It's been almost two months since our flood and things are finally moving along.

We have been told that we'll have the downstairs carpeted before Christmas (fingers crossed!), but, unfortunately, our Laundry Room won't be completed until after the new year.  But, having the play room back will bring me a HUGE sigh of relief!!

I am obsessed with ModCloth.  Have y'all ever looked at the gorgeous dresses/clothes/shoes that they have!?  A lot of their stuff has a retro vibe which I love!  I'm going to a Charity Gala the beginning of December and knew right away that I would be getting my dress from there.  I ordered this one and am totally and completely in love with it:

But there are so many other dresses that I LOVE!  Like these:

I could post dresses from this site all day.  All. Day.
I need more reasons to wear a dress.  Oh, and someone else's credit card so I can buy them all.

Y'all, we've got a full-fledged, insane threenager in the house!  This girl.  This sweet, funny, silly girl can go from a cuddly, loveable, ball of cuteness to a tantruming, hysterical hot mess in the blink of an eye.

Just look at this sweet death stare!  Hahaha!!!
The 'terrible twos' ain't got nothing on a threenager!

    1. You should! You'll be amazed at how much less you're sending to the landfill every week!! And, if you have a garden, there's no better food for it. Good luck!!

  3. Its like you learn my thoughts! You appear to know so much about this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something. I believe that you simply could do with a few % to pressure the message house a bit, however instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I’ll definitely be back.
