Peanut (or any nut) Butter

If you want to start making things from scratch, but feel it's overwhelming, look no further than making your own peanut butter.  Peanut butter is so simple - one ingredient, a food processor and five minutes.  That's all it takes!

But, don't limit yourself to peanut butter.  Almond butter.....cashew butter.....walnut butter.....you get the picture.  The point is - peanut butter should have one ingredient - peanuts.  All of the added oils, sugars, and chemicals that are added into peanut butters sold in the store are not needed and are definitely not good for you!

And yes, there are good peanut butters on the market that do only have peanuts as the ingredient.  But, it's so easy - and cheap - to make your own, so why not give it a try?

Homemade Peanut Butter

Ingredients:
Peanuts - I find that skin-on Spanish peanuts work best

Directions:

1.  Pour 8-12 ounces of peanuts into the bowl of a food processor.  Press 'on' and allow to process for approximately 5 minutes, pausing to scrape down the sides once or twice.  The peanuts will begin to grind, form a ball, then, ultimately, become creamy and smooth peanut butter.

2.  Transfer peanut butter to a glass jar and store in the pantry.  Enjoy!
