Kitchen Makeover

After being in our new house for eight months, we're finally starting to do some changes to the inside to make it feel more like our home.

One thing is for sure about the previous owners - they love light blue.  The kitchen, living room and downstairs were all a light powder blue.  Basically, two of the three floors of our house.  Now, it's not that I dislike the color, it was just a bit....ummm.....much.

With the black and stainless steel appliances in our kitchen, I knew I wanted a red kitchen.  Plus, since our kitchen and living room are totally open to one another, we wanted a color that would flow with the living room color (which will be revealed at a later date), but totally different so that it still felt like it's own room.

We picked out two different samples - Red Licorice and Red Tomato - both appropriately named for the job.

Almost as soon as Jason stepped away from the wall after painting the test areas, we knew the winner.  Red Tomato.  Hands down.

I'm so in love with the end result.  Absolutely. Love. It.

Isn't it amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do!?

Some close-ups of our new Red Tomato walls:

Since we don't have or use a microwave, I created a nice little small appliance cubby/charging station with the empty space:
What do you think?  I didn't know that I could love my kitchen any more than I already do!  So happy with this (simple and cheap!) transformation!  Can't wait to get some more paint on these walls!!

Have you made over any rooms in your house recently?  Let's see!
